Dimensions: 20 x 16 Media: Digital Photography Artist Statement : This small soft-boiled egg stand was outside my quaint Onsen in Japan. People come to these towns to enjoy the natural hot springs that abound and fill their shared baths. The eggs were steamed in some of those hot springs.

Acquiring knowledge about the different kinds of wood and the skills needed to use wood turning tools is rewarding. I search for wood that engages one’s imagination upon viewing the turned results. The intriguing shapes of multi-axis items are especially gratifying to make and invite speculation on how they were crafted.

The similarities shared by various cultures around the globe in regard to creation myths and oral tradition serve as reminders that we are one human family. This concept has never been more paramount. As an illustrator, many of my pieces are personal interpretations of these themes.
